We know that feeling, and we're here to help.
We are the Central Coasts Premier Driving School with one of the highest DMV pass rates in the state. We teach every skill your students needs to pass their test, and go beyond what is required with freeway driving all the way to roundabouts and parallel driving. We are a State Licensed and Bonded Driving School (E4449), and we exceed all of the requirements set forth by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). All students are taught by one of our 4 qualified instructors.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide each student with Quality Driver Education and Driver Training, while demonstrating our number-one priority; "Driver Safety." Surf's Up Driving School is committed to building up confident drivers with skills beyond what's needed to pass the DMV Driving Test. Every instructor is a parent who has gone through this with their own kids, so we more than understand what it takes to get them safely on the road.
Who we are
As business as grown, we now have 4 driving instructors at Surfs Up JUST in North County alone. Each goes through rigorous training and have passed all the state required steps and certifications.
Ben Kosharek: Owner, Operator, Driving Instructor
Ben is married, has a 17yr old daughter at Paso High, and a son in Junior High. Ben started driving for Rob about 5 years ago, and really enjoyed the business. One thing lead to another, and here we are! Ben can make friends with anyone, and cares deeply about all people. He loves teaching and prioritizes safety first. Students love his fun and engaging personality.
Rob Jones: Driving Instructor, Founding Owner
Rob and his wife live in Paso Robles. He retired from Law Enforcement as a Traffic Officer with over 20 years of experience. He has over 10 years of High School Teaching experience as a Driver Education and Driver Training Instructor. He's the previous Owner of Precision Driving School in Modesto, CA for 23 years. Rob enjoys golf and seeing the grandkids on his days off. If you want a good story, ask him about his time as a U.S. Marshall.
Sherry Thorne: Driving Instructor
Sherry is a mom and genuinely cares about her students. She works hard to make students feel safe and has a great sense of humor as she teaches them all the skills necessary to pass the final exam.
Ted Fletcher: Driving Instructor
Ted and his wife have fostered and adopted several kids in SLO county, and continue to be active in that good work. He is kind, patient, knowledgeable and has a ton of great advice.
